New England Summer Meetings, Field Trial

Region 1/AFTCA, ANEFTC,
 U.S. Complete Northeast Region, Northeast FTA
 to meet Sunday, Aug. 12 in R.I.


EXETER, R.I. -- Region 1/AFTCA, the Association of New England Field Trial Clubs, U.S. Complete Northeast Region, and the Northeast Field Trial Association will hold their summer meetings on Sunday, Aug. 12, at the John A. Stolgitis Field Trial Area at Arcadia Management Area. The meetings will be held in conjunction with Northeast FTA's annual summer walking field trial, which starts that day at 6 a.m. (Details below.)

Region 1/AFTCA will start its meeting at 9:30 a.m. followed by the ANEFTC, U.S. Complete, and finally, the Northeast Field Trial Association. Awards will be presented by the ANEFTC, Northeast FTA and U.S. Complete.

Harry Townshend Dies At 92

Field Trial Hall of Famer, host of the New England Open Shooting Dog Championship, and one of New England's most oustanding field trialers and supporters of the sport, Harry Townshend died Friday, July 27, 2012, at his boyhood home in New Haven, Conn. He was 92.

He leaves Deb, his wife of 70 years, along with 5 children, and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Deb Townshend at 709 Townsend Ave., New Haven, CT 06512-3140.

Harry will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012. Details will be announced.

Harry Townshend injured

 INJURED
 IN FALL

Field Trial Hall of Famer Harry Townshend suffered injuries to his neck in a fall at his home in New Haven, Conn., on July 4. Harry was treated at a local hospital and released into the care of his wife, Deb.

For dozens of years, Harry has hosted and served as field trial chairman of the New England Open Horseback Shooting Dog Championship at his Ragged Hill Farm in Pomfret, Conn.

Awards for top dogs of the year will be presented


Outstanding dog taxes and club dues are payable at the meeting. Member clubs who are not paid up will NOT be allowed to choose running dates for the 2012-13 field trial season.

Cost for club insurance will be discussed and voted on at the meeting
 so please don’t make payment for this until notified.
