EAST WINDSOR, Conn. -- Grousewoods Skeeter, a setter male owned by Larry Craig of Schwenksville, Pa., and handled by Matt Basilone, was named champion at the Northeastern Open Shooting Dog Championship held Oct. 14-16, 2013, at Flaherty Field Trial Area. Runnerup was Awesome Country Girl, a pointer female, owned by Bill and Margie Ricci and handled by George Tracy. Thirty-eight dogs were drawn for the three-day event.
According to judges, both dogs had multiple bird work and very similar performances. Skeeter earned the blue ribbon with a somewhat nicer pointing style and slightly stronger race.
